RecScape is a D.S.J Supports leisure support program. Join in, make new friends and work towards your NDIS community participation goals while doing things you enjoy. RecScape offers a wide range of group social and recreational activities, events and getaways across Western Australia. Our supports are designed to help participants practise real-life skills, build confidence and increase independence in social and community settings. Learning life skills has never been so much fun!

Social Dinner Wednesday

Social Dinner Wednesdays

Social Dinner Wednesdays is a group based community participation program designed to build confidence, independence and real world life skills through shared dining experiences.

Participants are supported to plan outings, make reservations, manage a budget, order food confidently and explore a variety of cuisines while socialising in different community settings. The program encourages choice making, communication and positive social interactions in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Through weekly dinners held at different venues across Perth, participants build friendships, develop independence and gain confidence navigating community spaces while enjoying good food and great company.

Social Dinner Wednesdays is about learning by doing, feeling supported and creating meaningful connections.

Thursday After 4

Social & Life Skills each Thursday afternoon, participants plan, shop for and prepare a home-cooked meal together. This supports communication, numeracy, teamwork and independent living skills, with time to relax and socialise after dinner.

Getaways

Supported group short breaks and holidays are offered at carefully selected, accessible venues to provide participants with meaningful opportunities to experience new environments in a safe and supportive setting. These experiences are designed to promote independence, build confidence and strengthen social connections while participants enjoy time away from their usual routines.

Participants are supported to develop and practise everyday independent living skills such as personal care routines, meal planning and preparation, budgeting, travel skills, shared living responsibilities and decision-making. Group settings encourage positive social interaction, teamwork and communication, supporting participants to build friendships and a sense of belonging.

Through supported short breaks and holidays, participants are empowered to step outside their comfort zones at their own pace, try new activities and gain confidence in their abilities. The focus is on choice, enjoyment and personal growth, with supports tailored to individual goals while working towards NDIS community participation and independent living outcomes.

Weekend Recreational Supports

Enjoy movies, beach outings, sporting events, festivals and community attractions across Western Australia. Participants are supported to gradually build confidence accessing the community more independently.

All Abilities Hoops WA

All Abilities Hoops WA is an inclusive community basketball program that brings together players of all abilities in a safe, supportive and empowering environment. The program focuses on building confidence, skills, teamwork and social connection through basketball, while promoting inclusion and belonging both on and off the court.

Sessions are designed to support individual ability levels, encourage participation at each person’s own pace and create pathways into mainstream sport where appropriate. Beyond skill development, All Abilities Hoops WA fosters friendships, leadership, resilience and a strong sense of community, proving that basketball is for everyone.

Basketball Mentoring Program

D.S.J Supports works closely with All Abilities Hoops WA to deliver a purpose-built mentoring and coaching program that creates meaningful pathways for participants. The program supports AAHWA players to step into paid coaching roles, delivering inclusive basketball clinics within specialist education schools.

Participants are mentored and supported throughout each clinic by experienced domestic coaches and NBL1 players, ensuring sessions are delivered to a high standard while building confidence, leadership and coaching skills. This hands-on support allows AAHWA coaches to develop practical skills in communication, teamwork and professional conduct, all within an area they know, love and play.

By combining D.S.J Supports’ expertise in disability support with All Abilities Hoops WA’s inclusive sporting pathway and the guidance of high-level coaches, the program delivers real-world outcomes that support independence, community participation and long-term employment goals.
